Buying Quality Ladders For The Household

Deciding on what type of Ladders to buy for around the house is not that easy with all the different types available. Like anything else that you buy, you are going to get what you pay for when purchasing a ladder. Some major points to decide on before buying a ladder would be where the ladder is going to be used and how high you need to get and safely be in a work area. There are different categories starting with step ladder style for interior use and range through extension ladder style for reaching the second story on a home.

The more basic and easy to use ladder types for the house are made from metal and are not designed to withstand much weight. These types are commonly referred to as step stools and usually contain only one or two steps. They are relatively easy to move around and stores in a closet or laundry room. The next step up in height would be a six foot folding ladder. These are made from wood or fiberglass and are the most common ladders found around the house or job site. They enable the user to work on varied ceilings ranging from eight to ten feet high.

Other kinds that are good to have around the house would be sliding aluminum extension ladders. This type of  is used to get to higher areas above ten feet on the exterior of a house. They lightweight but do require extra room to maneuver it around the work area. Attic pull down ladder types are also good to have installed in the garage or interior of a house that allow access to the attic. They are stored in the attic and accessible by unfolding a wood or aluminum ladder that is mounted in the ceiling.

There are also many other kinds that can be used around the house that can be rented also. Scaffolding and large "A" frame ladders are not common types that homeowners have, but are used in hard to reach areas that normal ones cannot access. Ladder types that are big and bulky or are used to access bookcases are often called rolling since wheels are attached to the bottom to aid in moving them.

Decorating Project - A Ladder Bookshelf

By Kathy Burns-Millyard

And I somehow got the idea to combine those extra books with the old ladders, and create my very own book shelf.
